Summoned Surveillance: Through an established live video feed in the artist's studio, Summoned Surveillance, a month-long, 24-7 durational performance, invited online viewesr (as well as viewers in a nearby gallery) to remotely observe and interact in real-time with the artist through a computer web browser and IM platform that I programmed. The new-genre, performance piece explored a range of issues including those related to privacy and voyeurism, intellectual property, and public and self-scrutiny. The installation investigated both the synthesis and disconnect between the actual and virtual realms, the artificial (re)presentation of reality in the electronic world, and contemporary culture's obsession with watching reproduced realism in the media. (Adjacent photos are screenshots of good ole Pete during performances and scheduled events in studio space and galleries).
